We provide a starter supply of household essentials to help you settle in comfortably. For the remainder of your stay, we recommend bringing or purchasing:

- Food, beverages, and favorite condiments
- Beach towels and beach chairs _(some homes provide these — please check your individual listing or inquire with our team)_
- Additional paper products, including toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags
- Laundry detergent, if your vacation home includes a washer and dryer
- Plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and other preferred kitchen consumables

_**Good to know:** All Salt & Shine vacation homes include bed linens and bath towels._

Do you offer shorter stays during Peak Season?

While many of our homes have minimum stay requirements during the summer season, select homes may offer shorter stays depending on availability.

Reach out to our team with your preferred dates, and we'll be happy to help you find the perfect fit.

Question 3

Should I purchase Travel Insurance?

Accepted Answer

Travel insurance is optional, but we highly recommend protecting your vacation investment against unexpected circumstances that could affect your trip.

Guests may purchase coverage through **PlayTravel**, including available travel protection options during the booking process.

We encourage you to carefully review the coverage terms and select the option that best fits your travel needs.

Question 4

What time is Check-In?

Check-in begins at **4:00 PM**.

During Peak Season, early arrivals are not available so our housekeeping and vacation management teams have the time needed to thoroughly clean, inspect, and prepare each home for your arrival.

**On arrival day:**

- **9:00 AM:** Your personalized digital Folio Guidebook will be emailed to you.
- **3:45 PM:** You'll receive your final check-in information emailed directly to you, including lockbox or keyless-entry instructions.

Then it's time to settle in and start your Maine getaway!

What time is Check-Out?

Check-out is by **10:00 AM**.

Our housekeeping teams begin preparing homes promptly for arriving guests, so we kindly ask that the home and all parking areas be completely vacated by 10:00 AM.

_Unapproved late check outs may result in late check out fee._

Question 6

Can I request an Early Check-In or Late Check-Out?

Accepted Answer

During Peak Season, early check-ins and late departures generally cannot be accommodated due to same-day turnovers and the time required to properly prepare each home.

Please do not arrive at the home or park on the premises prior to your confirmed check-in time.

During the **shoulder and off seasons**, we may be able to accommodate:

- **Early Check-In: $75**
- **Late Check-Out: $50**

_These options are subject to availability and cannot be offered when there is a same-day turnover._

Question 7

How do I book a Salt & Shine stay?

Accepted Answer

Booking directly with Salt & Shine is simple:

1. Enter your desired dates and number of guests.
2. Browse available vacation homes, including photos, amenities, rates, maps, and detailed descriptions.
3. Select the home that feels right for your getaway and submit your reservation request.
4. Once confirmed, a **50% deposit** secures your stay.
5. Your remaining balance is due **45 days prior to arrival**.

Question 8

When do bookings open for the following year?

We begin working with our homeowners to update calendars, availability, and seasonal rates beginning in October.

Reservations and deposits for the upcoming calendar year are generally accepted beginning January 10th, allowing our homeowners time to finalize their personal dates and availability.

Question 9

What are my responsibilities as a guest?

Accepted Answer

The Primary Renter who signs the Rental Agreement is responsible for the reservation, including:

- Payment of all applicable rental charges, fees, and taxes
- The care of the home throughout the stay
- Any damages caused during the reservation
- Ensuring all guests follow the home's rules and occupancy requirements

The Primary Renter must be **28 years of age or older**.

Please carefully review your Rental Agreement and your individual home's information prior to arrival.

Is online booking secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our online reservation and payment system uses secure processing technology to protect your booking information.

Once your payment has been successfully processed, you'll receive confirmation by email.

Question 11

Can I bring my pet?

Accepted Answer

Many of our Salt & Shine homes are pet friendly, while others are unable to accommodate pets due to homeowner preferences, allergies, or individual home restrictions.

Prior to booking, please send our team a photo and brief description of your pet so we can request approval when necessary.

Will I be able to reach Salt & Shine during my stay?

Salt & Shine is a local, hands-on vacation management team, and we are here to support you throughout your stay. Whether you have a question, need assistance, or simply want a local recommendation, our team is only a call or email away during our office and monitored guest-support hours.

Question 13

Do you offer Twin-to-King bed conversions?

Accepted Answer

Select homes with twin-bed configurations may have a King Conversion Kit available upon request.

Conversion kits are provided for guest use; however, assembling or converting the beds is the guest's responsibility and is not included as part of housekeeping services.

If you would like a conversion kit available during your stay, please let us know in advance!

Question 14

Do you allow parties or events?

Accepted Answer

To respect our homeowners, surrounding neighborhoods, occupancy limits, and local residential requirements, **parties and events are not permitted at Salt & Shine vacation homes unless a specific event has been approved in writing in advance.**
